The Witchfinder: general

Halloween Inspired Artwork
(Pershore Exhibition, October 2007)

In the war-torn 17th Century, an Essex man called Matthew Hopkins claimed to be able to cast out Witches, and went on to scour East Anglia, judicially murdering a lot of people under his title of Witchfinder General.

Or rather Witchfinder: general, as he pointed the finger at virtually anyone if he got paid.

We like to think that in the afterlife, Hopkins is getting a taste of his own medicine on Halloween, during visits from the real thing.  Glenn based his image on Vincent Price, who was memorably nasty in the role on film.
