Broadcasting When I was writing and researching Skaler I undertook a radio broadcasting course, to develop my writing skills, and ability to focus on my visual imagination. It was an exhilarating, addictive medium to work in, and the course got me fully involved in the Wolverhampton Community Magazine Programme on BBC Radio WM, and the WCR Challenge FM Broadcasts, as a script writer, journalist, producer and presenter. For Challenge I developed a comedy series called Absolutely Fatuous, and Cold Tea and Biros, a writers' forum, and along the way I wrote a lot of short stories which were broadcast. It was wonderful fun, and after 7 years with the studio I left to write and illustrate my Skaler novel. |
