The Karpiercian Man Working Document, March 2007 Leonardo De Vinci drew a very famous image called The Vitruvian Man as a study in anatomy and bodily proportion, and it occurred to Glenn it would be useful to have something like this to refer to himself. But in always drawing Vampires, Werewolves and Ghosts (Oh my!) he probably needed something somewhat out of proportion: limbs at odd lengths, almost as if stitched together. So he drew The Karpiercian Man, (named for Karloff, and Jack Pierce, who designed all of Universal's Monster makeups.) The creature is seen with autopsy scars, stitched on mismatching limbs, and Jack Pierces' stiffening leg-irons. If you look closely you can see the stitching around the left wrist, where Pierce indicated that a different hand had been sown on. Please Note: Whilst this drawing is © copyright of Glenn James, the Frankenstein image depicted is of course © of Universal, and we therefore cannot sell any prints or merchandise depicting it. |
