Grimm's Tales: A Book at Bedtime A tribute to the Masters of Horror; Boris Karloff, James Whale, the Universal Horrors of the 1930's & the Germanic Tradition We owe so much to these films, and this tribute sprang from a dream which haunted Glenn, where Henry Frankenstein was reading the Brothers Grimm to his Creature. The Grimm's gothic tales foreshadowed so much that followed and I like the thought of it masking Whale's love of German Expressionism. I could see Whale staging a scene like this on his set. If the Baron had cared for the creature the story would have ended very differently, but we wouldn't have those films. Please Note: Whilst this drawing is © copyright of Glenn James, the Frankenstein image depicted is of course © of Universal, and we therefore cannot sell any prints or merchandise depicting it. |
