Ghost Hunter and the Witch Portrait Drawing for The Reluctant Ghost Hunter Glenn's earliest drawing for The Reluctant Ghost Hunter comic project, a formal portrait of Judyth herself and the ghost she will be battling in the first comic book, The Bell Witch (Kate Bates). The Bell Witch haunting of the 19th Century is America's most famous Poltergeist case, (comparable to England's Borley Rectory hauntings) and probably inspired The Blair Witch Project. Glenn had to realise a look for the ghost, who was historically invisible. The famous Tulip Staircase ghost inspired the composition when he was photographing a dark staircase at Worcester Commandery, and the look of the ghost as a half decayed skull with a crone's hooked nose came in a sharp stab of inspiration.
