Frankenstein's Monster Earliest serious Horror drawing This drawing of Boris Karloff is important in Glenn's portfolio, because it marks a serious turning point in his inspiration. The original photo reference for the drawing is one of Jack Pierce's unused experimental make ups for Karloff's Monster and it's appropriate here as this was also one of Glenn's first truly serious attempts at drawing with a Biro. It was also the first drawing where he used a Chinagraph Pencil. It was drawn shortly after the dream which inspired Skaler, when he was working on his earliest attempts at developing the Skaler idea and characters. Glenn had just become involved in radio to develop his writing skills for his novel, and this drawing was an important departure from Sci-Fi. Please Note: Whilst this drawing is © copyright of Glenn James, the Frankenstein image depicted is of course © of Universal, and we therefore cannot sell any prints or merchandise depicting it. |
