The Gothic Works of Glenn James started out initially by attending art fairs and events, such as the Worcester Christmas Fayre, they began selling prints, cards, and postcards of Glenn's illustrations. They went on to show the work in a variety of exhibitions and galleries, which notably included the Castle Museum of H.R. Giger (the designer of Ridley Scott's 'Alien') in Switzerland and Mall Galleries in London. The work then moved into being sold by retailers, starting with Prana Holistics in St. John's Worcestershire, and Obsidian, at Birmingham's legendary venue 'The Oasis' Market. It has gone from strength to strength, and is now being sold in establishments widely across England, and in Edinburgh, and in Scotland. The work is available in an ever expanding range of formats, such as prints, greetings cards, postcards, fridge magnets and keyrings. You can buy the same either through our online shop or via our growing number of stockists. Glenn is an illustrator contributing to magazines like 'Murky Depths', and books such as Anne Bradford's phenomenally successful 'Ghosts, Murders and Scandals'. He is available for commissions both private, and for professional undertakings for authors and publishers. The original inspiration for the work was Glenn's dream in 1994 about the vampire Skaler, who proved to be the wellspring which caused the whole dam to burst. This character not only caused Glenn to develop his unique style of Pre-Raphaelite Goth in his illustration work, but has hugely informed his writing. The initial novel about Skaler is in its second draft, and many more are potentially planned on the theme of The Skaler Mythology. Glenn is an accomplished short story writer, and as a former Radio Producer he is an experienced voice at a microphone. He undertakes talks about his work, and is available for recitals where he very much enjoys reading his short stories. He enjoys performing his work before an audience, and welcomes any opportunities to do so. |
